We built this because we were tired of the same awkward conversation every Christmas
I Want I Need is a free wishlist app made in the UK, for people who are tired of guessing and being guessed at.
Where it started
The same conversation, every single year
“What do you want for Christmas?” — “Oh, I don’t know, don’t worry about me.” Sound familiar? We had this conversation with our families every year, and we watched the same problems play out every time: duplicate gifts, unwanted presents, links buried in group chats.
We looked at the existing options — bloated registry tools built for weddings, US-focused apps, or services that charged a fee just to make a list. None of them felt right for everyday UK life. So we built I Want I Need: simple, warm, and completely free.

Always free
Making a wishlist should never cost money. We don’t charge, we don’t upsell, and there’s no “premium” tier. Free means free.
Private by default
Your wishlist is yours. We don’t share your data, we don’t sell it, and we don’t show you ads based on what’s on your list.
Built for the UK
Made by a UK team, for UK people. That means pounds not dollars, UK retailers front and centre, and a product built around how British people actually give gifts.
Why free?
Because it should be
Gifting is a personal thing. We didn’t want money to get in the way of that. We keep I Want I Need free by keeping it lean — no bloat, no unnecessary features, no investors pushing us to monetise your data.
If we ever introduce a way to keep the lights on — optional tips, a business tier — we’ll be upfront about it. The core product will always be free.
